The Movements - Yesterday, Now and Forever - Video

DESCRIPTION:
What I like most about this offering from Swedish psych rockers The Movements is its diversity of song types. They move seamlessly from hard-driving motorik anthems to yearning existential ballads to dreamy psych dirges. As I listen I am reminded of everything from Steppenwolf and Black Sabbath to gentle Laurel Canyon country rock. When they want to go balls to the wall they have no trouble pulling out the stops and banging out the riffs, and are equally at ease pulling back and doing quieter and more thoughtful material. The musicianship is spot-on throughout. I especially like the long, Steppenwolf-esque instrumental section that closes out the song "Winter's Calling." I like their playing so much that, while I find no fault with the vocals, I really wouldn't mind hearing the album as all instrumentals. More good Swedish hard rock coming out of Crusher Records.
