Absynth #6: Control Driven Envelopes & Morphing
In this video we'll examine Control Driven envelopes and combine them to morph a sample. This will begin with a Time-freeze'd scan through the sample's spectrum with the Granular Osc, and then we'll build a few Channel parameters into the Macro Control.
The Control Driven Envelope is an Envelope mode in Absynth. It is a path that is then mapped into a Macro Control; it is a non-linear envelope path that does not function by a playback time as normal. Instead, the envelope position is determined by the Macro slider in real-time. Assigning multiple parameters, as we'll demonstrate, can create a dynamic movement, which is ultimately dependant on a MIDI CC controller and live performance.
We can combine parameters to create a 'morphing' effect, as well as create dynamic live patterns, on-off env switches, and pulses that would not be achievable in normal playback.
The audio sample we'll use is called 'Resonant Granite', which is found in the 'Absynth Spectral Expansion' pack. We will experiment with morphing a coarse brick-like sound into a bird song, with one Macro slider.
Hope you enjoy it! The possibilities are endless.
