Suzanne Pleshette sings a working girl's song in under a minute - Video

DESCRIPTION:
Evidently if you ate enough NECCO WAFERS... you received a complimentary soundtrack to The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin. In it are two little nuggets written before they received Oscars for Mary Poppins, Cal-i-for-nee Gold for the miners and a song for ladies of the stage/night, Girls of San Francisco.
It's a kid's movie so they had to keep it short and it had to be sanitized - you can see the entire movie elsewhere on Youtube but here is her snippet of a song.
Suzanne started on stage and had a strong alto voice(who knew), but this property, based on a Newman award winner By The Great Horn Spoon about the gold rush, was troubled and in turnaround a few years before release in 1967. Disney purchased the rights for Roddy MacDowell but didn't know if it should be a full musical or burlesque comedy. The Shermans gave it one and a half songs but the final Ballad was created by someone else, as they had moved on to another studio and CHitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Suzanne was actually in the successful The Ugly Dachshund for Disney and had been in some fairly racy movies in the early 60s, but the Dachshund proved she could carry a humorous role and be a faithful wife with a smoldering undercurrent that would appeal to adults. Her Disney films were a turn away from star studded films with Steve McQueen, James Garner, Angela Lansbury and Alfred Hitchcock but her name above the title wasn't enough in the year In The Heat Of The Night won Best Picture. Her best work was sadly in supporting roles.
This film has a minor cult following and there's an official Disneyland release, but the soundtrack, mostly a narrative with SFX and a mellifluous, fussy Roddy MacDowell, didn't sell well and this version was a way to get the product out.
