Alexander George Lovat

Hi, let me start by telling you how I got into composing Soundtrack style music. I started writing music when I was about 15 years old, on a basic Yamaha keyboard with a 4-track sequencer. But as basic as the keyboard was, it gave me access to some good sounds and it put me on the right path. I started putting my favourite movies on and choosing different scenes within the films and muting the sound. I would study the footage to try to get a feel of what the character on screen was going through, whether he was being chased or trying to sneak into a secret facility, I would try to cover many different styles and basically write music to what I was watching. As I got better I kind of out grew the keyboard and wanted something more sophisticated and moved up to synthesizer workstations like the Triton and Roland Fantom-S, These keyboards were a quantum leap to what I was using before and gave me access to more tracks, more sounds and allowed me to express myself and develop my rhythmic talent. I now use software sequencers like Logic and Cubase and have access to thousands of professional sounds.
