THIS IS THE CLEAN COMPARISON OF THESE AMPS, SEE MY CRANKED AMPS VIDEO FOR MUCH DIRTIER TONES.
Yes, some of these amps don't stay clean when you lay into the strings, which is important to reveal!

A '61 Gibson SG was played, a Shure SM57 was placed against the amp cloth, about 1-2 inches off-center of the speaker (which is the most common and time-tested way to record a guitar amp). An Apogee Duet A-D converter was used into Garage Band. A Boss Loop Station captured and played back the guitar performance to insure the exact same performance was used in every amp recording. Each recording was volume balanced as closely as possible for comparison. THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS VIDEO IS TO COMPARE THE VARYING SOUNDS OF THESE AMPS.

1st 4 beats are the bridge PU, the funky part is both PUs for 2 beats, and the mellow last part is the neck PU. Each amp is played for about 34 seconds.

More info on each amp and its settings in the individual amp videos, which feature each amp played clean and dirty, solo and with drums and bass.

The guitar performance is meant to be simple, loose, and low-key, using varying positions to reveal the amp sound. Please don't waste our time with any criticism of the guitar playing. It's pointless. This could have been done a million different ways. It is meant to be a comprehensive and informative (mostly vintage Fender) tube amp COMPARISON and is something that was not previously available like this. Everyone has their own idea of what they want to hear. This comparison was done exactly as intended. Please consider being kind in your comments. Thanks.
