DESCRIPTION:
A 47 year old man drowned in Matura on Sunday evening after saving his son and his nephew.

David Seegobin was in a bathing pool near the Mermaid Pool at Thomas Trace at around 3pm, when he, his son, Simeon Seegobin, and his nephew, Daniel Seecharan, got pulled by a current into the deep end of the waterway.

Seegobin, of New Grant, used his strength to push his son to the shallow and in the process got the attention of his relatives on shore.

A nearby biker gang was alerted to the crisis and aided in getting Daniel Seecharan out of the water.

By the time they attempted to get to Mr. Seegobin, he had already gone under.

Coast Guard divers retrieved the body at around 5:30pm on Sunday.
