From the early to mid 90’s hip-hop was going through what most would consider it’s post renaissance era. Artist like Biggie, Tupac, Nas, and Snoop Dogg were featured as the most influential stars. This prompted the actions of many young men to formulate their own hip-hop groups.



Blacksoul, which features a young apprentice by the name of “Mel official” through their talents into the ring of hip-hop and begin to work with other notables in the game, such as, Akapella, Fuclip, Black, Guess Who, Alo-heed and Double M.



After a short stint the group part company. Mel then teamed up with group member Black and continued their path to make music, retooling themselves and renaming the group “Blak Male”. In 1998 they had completed their first album entitled “First Terms”.



The album was filled with witty lyrics, skillful tactics, and original production. The group for sure felt they had a genius of album together and pitched it to Vision Records. The V.P shot down the project due to lack of distribution.



Only 15 and still hungry to make his mark on the hip-hop community, Mel pushed on and got involved heavy on the local hip-hop scene of Newark, NJ attending many of the open mics held by the original “Black 45”.



A few years later Mel would then team up with K- Born aka Knowledge and Ray. Double M of “Solar Digital Recording” (Newark, NJ). With the new guidance over him, opportunity was once again restored and allowed him to put out one of the hoods classics entitled “ Flood the Streets”.



Def Jam’s A&R “Skane’ listen to the track, but felt at the time Joe Buddens was there Jersey based artist. Not shaken from the news, Mel got back on his grind and continue to push forward still seeking to make his mark. His latest mixtape project entitled “The Hood Prince’ is in the streets now, and making noise. Someday the determination will pay off and the world will soon see this young man standing tall.
