I’ve always wanted to do something where I play the Rhodes for the whole song. Some of my favorite pianists have ventured into playing a Rhodes and utilized its hypnotic sonic quality. Here’s a clip from a session I did in Brooklyn at a rehearsal space with Eric Doob and Massimo Biolcati. As for the song, it’s a new one entitled “Rhapsodize.” The title has a double meaning. The definition of rhapsodize is "speak or write about someone or something with great enthusiasm and delight.” From a musical form stand point, a rhapsody can be roughly described as a free flowing single movement song with several themes integrated into its structure. The song builds from the main theme to a Rhodes solo, then followed by a rhapsodic synth/Rhodes passage based on the original structure, and onto a drum solo before it comes back to the original idea. Enjoy!
