Two spectacular soloists, cellist Marie Hallynck and pianist Muhiddin Dürrüoglu-Demeriz, join forces to present an enchanted programme of chamber works. The concert opens with Janacek's popular Pohádka ('Fairy Tale'), a three-movement work after Vasily Zhukovsky's "The Tale of Tsar Berendyey". This is followed by Huo-Fu Zhang's Crépuscle ('Dusk', inspired by Li Shang-Yin's poem "Le You Yuan") with its distinctive Chinese flavour. Pianist Dürrüoglu then plays a double role as pianist and composer in the world premiere of his Emotions fugitives no. 3 and the concert closes with the exciting and varied rhetoric of French composer Nicolas Bacri's five-movement Sonata op. 32.
