Pirates of the Caribbean:At World's End Complete Score-Maelstrom Battle (Full) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 31, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
The complete battle music for the Maelstrom sequence in its entirety.

I noticed that the second half of the full Maelstrom musical sequence isn't on Youtube anywhere (other than in chunks/pieces), so I decided to upload the whole thing.

Included in this compilation of tracks from the album and the recording sessions (frequently known as "the extended score" or "complete soundtrack") are the following pieces: (I've named them, these aren't official titles)

1. Hoist the Colours (Album Version)
2. "Dyin's The Day Worth Livin' For"/Maelstrom Pt. 1/ Into Battle
3. "A Lost Bird"/I Don't Think Now's The Best Time (Extended)/Maelstrom Pt 2./Battle Continues
4. "Ah, She Survived."/Beckett's Death (Film Version)

Unfortunately, I was unable to include the Film Version of Hoist the Colours (the chorus is removed and the instrumental section is a bit louder), however I think we can all agree that the Album Version with the added chorus isn't all that terrible. Another flaw is the random Davy Jones theme in place of the action cue from COTBP (hardcore fans will know what I'm talking about), but it doesn't bother me that much.

SO much had to happen for the Pirates scores to become what they are today. There could be an entire subject in school known as "POTC Music History" and it'd take at least two semesters to know everything about it - all the people involved and what transpired to create this magnificent musical journey. Excluding the fourth film because it had a different director and it was in a way separate from the others in terms of both writing and music, the score for the Maelstrom Battle Sequence really tied together almost all of the themes from the previous movies:

Jack's Theme (Klaus and Hans' work combined)
Beckett's Theme (Hans and Lorne I believe)
Hoist the Colours/Love theme
Davy Jones' Theme
The Curse theme (Written by Klaus and adapted by Hans I believe, however I am not 100% sure)
The Triple Guns Theme (Plays during the Jar of Dirt sequence in DMC, then again here during a similar naval battle scene)
Calypso's Theme (Geoff)
He's a Pirate (Obviously) - just done in action scenes
Many action cues from the film and its two predecessors
Tons of little redone and remade cues from the first films and even references to older films scored by Hans
A couple of original pieces

The most notable variable missing from this list is the Kraken's theme, however since the Kraken was irrelevant to the battle, I can see why that wasn't added.

Nevertheless, the Maelstrom music is very special because it feels like it has everything in it. I can imagine that writing it must have been hell and heaven at the same time and who knows how many musicians and writers and editors were involved with this suite.

I own nothing here. All rights go to Hans Zimmer, his crew of musicians, Disney, Bruckheimer, and all of the other filmmakers and producers involved with the Pirates franchise. I simply uploaded this for enjoyment, I am not making a profit. In fact, most of this cannot even be heard on a buyable album.
