PUBLISHED:  Dec 10, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
The Little Rock Nine was an emo band from Clarkston Michigan (a suburb of Detroit) circa 1996/7. They consisted of a few young hardcore kids who were heavily involved in the punk/hardcore/emo scene in the early 90's. They were Grace, James, Jae and Matt. Being inspired by bands such as Current and Indian Summer as well as Huggy Bear and the Third Sex resulted in their soft/load dymanics and screaming female vocals. The lyrics were emotional and politically driven which reflected the state of the hardcore/emo scene of the time. They only played a few shows but when they did they played with some of their favorite bands such as Three Studies for a Crucifixion, Rye coalition, Cleons Down, Ambassador 990, Constatine Sankathi and Harriet the Spy. They also put out one 7" and have a song on a compilation that James put out on utilitarian records in the late 90's which consists of Michigan bands including Small Brown Bike.
