LotusLounge was formed by koji kawashima(programing) and sheep(vocal) in 2004.

Floating.

LotusLounge's music carries the vague sense of floating on a still pond quietly like a lotus blossom. Vocalist Sheep writes lyrics, and Kawashima Koji takes charge of the composition and the programming. Their music is composed of sharp electronic sounds with natural touches, and it's very comfortable.



The arrangements are calculated precisely to convey completeness. While their sound has crisp textures and sharp tones, it is softly delicate. It is ultramodern music, but somehow nostalgic. "The tenderness, the softness. where is it coming from?" I thought.



It seems as if their music is meeting from two opposite midpoints. Light and darkness. A man and a woman. An adult and a child. An acoustic sound and an electronic sound. Public and private. Our world is overflowing with various opposing clauses. Both will be lost if either is chosen by

itself. However, can't we have a world in which both can be chosen, too? Half-transparent light-happiness. The world can be stated as an Utopia which has all of it.



LotusLounge's music takes on the effect of graduated steps between these midpoints being performed. Appearing in their song's main character are sometimes two conflicting sounds, but these are tools Koji uses to arrange the sounds and create the overall mood.



Listening to "EnnuiGirl" there is a sense of relief from limbo- the escape from feelings of loneliness and being made to feel worthless.



As for "Shang-hi LoveSick", delicate vocal fluctuations are transmitted from the words of Sheep. It seems that she is expressing an android with feelings, while the electronic sound shines completely through.



"Mito" poses a moment like an out-of-body experience, which finds the body in spite of itself near a waterfall and the eternal halfway point at the same time.



I continue wanting to sway with LotusLounge forever. If it moves to their music, the thing of being eternal will become believed.
