Kay Suzuki

Kay Suzuki, a London-based Japanese producer, DJ and sometime-samurai, Kay Suzuki has been influenced by music with social / cultural background of its time and place such as Soul, Jazz, Funk, Afro-beat, Latin, House, Broken beat, Detroit techno, and everything in between or beyond.

Since moved to London on 2004, he’s heavily involved London’s club scene and had a debut release on BBC award winning party/label Coopr8(CO-OP) then released remixes, re-edits and original tracks on several outputs including his own label "bipolar" and "round in motion".



His productions have received support from world renowned DJs including Gilles Peterson(BBC), Theo Parrish, Osunlade, Patrick Forge, Karizma, Alton Miller, Benji B, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Jazztronik and many other worldwide DJs and taste makers alike. Also some releases featured by Cooperations such as Levi's Japan and Mercedes Benz Europe. As a DJ, he was invited by numbers of promoters in Europe and Japan and had great support from local music lovers because of his diverse and universal selection of the music.

Kay Suzuki's musical journey began in a sleepy suburb of Japan where he was brought up with a musical education of Soul, Jazz and Funk. Later he became acquainted with dance music culture and moved to London in 2004. He got heavily involved with London's club scene and met various type of artists from all over the globe. Through the experience, he finally found the musical family which gave birth to this album, a new global conscious music in our time.



First single from the album including remixes by UK veteran producer Atjazz and Dominican's rising star Ezel which had massive international support from DJs such as Osunlade, Marc Marc(4hero), Alton Miller, Seiji, Robert Owens, Kyoto Jazz Massive and more. The Opening EP has been selected as "Levi's® Japan Recommend Disc", playing in LEVI'S® flagship stores and via their listening booths across Japan, alongside Gilles Peterson's latest release.



The album opens up with an organic house beat with the soul of Africa - sublime and uplifting track "MUSIC" connecting West African traditional music and UK grooves with a spice of Japanese sense. You will experience more cross-genre/cultural collaboration all the way through the album and realise there's no need to categorise this musical experience.

This album brings together the cultures of Africa, Europe and Japan united by the message of Soul music with creative attitude of Jazz and Dance music and represents a deep sentiment that cannot be expressed in words.
