MONK MIX: Remixes & Interpretations of Meredith Monk's Music CD- Vijay Iyer Interview - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 09, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
Contributing pianist and composer Vijay Iyer talks about his collaboration with poet and vocalist Latasha Diggs to create an interpretation and partial remix of Meredith Monk's "Rain" and "Pinetree Lullaby" from "Dolmen Music" for this forthcoming double CD. The quote he references is from an interview with Meredith Monk called "Authentic Voice" in which she says "[In 1965] I had a revelation that the voice could be like the body and that it could have a kind of articulation and flexibility and fluidity like the body has."
