DESCRIPTION:
The Seattle based North Country Bluegrass band is incredibly talented, up and coming since 2012 with powerful vocal harmonies, tasteful arrangment combined with complex instrumental overlays and a pleasing stage presence.While remaining faithful to the roots of Bluegrass tradition, they also push the edge of a changing contemporary scene with outstanding original music. North Country Bluegrass sprang from the special chemistry evident when they found themselves together at the 2012 Shelton Bluegrasss festival. Will McSeveney took 1st place (banjo) during that event. As the winner, he was slated to play a couple of tunes before the headliner. But instead of playing solo, Will brought the entire band on stage. Their heartfelt performance impressed the audience, who spontaneously erupted in response. The group is eagerly looking forward to playing as one of the official slots on stage in Shelton's 2013 Bluegrass from the Forest Festival. Members of the band are: Stephen Burwell (fiddle), Nick Dumas (mandolin, vocals), Kent Powell (bass, vocals), Norm Olsen (guitar, vocals), and Will McSeveney (banjo).
