DESCRIPTION:
Ken 'Snakehips' Johnson and His West Indian Orchestra - "Tuxedo Junction"

Recorded in London on February 27th 1940

A great band, (Britain's first all black dance orchestra), gone long before it's time when a German land mine found it's way into the ventilation system of The Cafe De Paris in London, during the blitz and exploded in the basement ballroom killing Ken and most of his band and many dancers and diners.

Played on a Garrard 401 classic turntable with an SME 3009 tonearm, (non improved), fitted with a new ortofon 2M 78 cartridge specially designed for playing 78s. Turntable refurbished by Dominic Harper of Northwest Analogue of Preston, Lancashire, UK.
