DESCRIPTION:
I had a dream once that I sang this with Frank Sinatra and pulled out a little harmony at the end to impress him.
Again, if you make yourself go through all of the Sinatra catalog and LOOK for A song, you'd go crazy. The song finds you. Not the other way around. So I remember this being on a cassette that my friend Harley and I used to pass back and forth back in our college days. The whole idea of this guy getting turned down and joining the French Foreign Legion is nutty, but so catchy and a great story. Another not-so-romantic notion adding to the mystery of what's actually going on with this "Mystery Date": something's not quite right and not always going your way. No big band, no horns, no snares, just me singing and Lee Anna Atwell on the piano telling the story in less than two minutes.
