GATECRASHER KICK OFF IRISH TOUR IN STYLE

Thousands of clubbers are preparing for the News Year's Eve party of a
life-time - GATECRASHER NYE in Ireland's new £93 million, state-of the art
millennium arena The ODYSSEY in BELFAST. The NYE event is the first in a
series of GATECRASHER events planned for Northern and Southern Ireland in
2001. But those who can't attend this monstrous event need not worry. The
awe-inspiring GATECRASHER sonic soundcape will be broadcast live on RADIO1!
Shaping the boundaries of club culture with explosive passion and vigour
GATECRASHER -- the groundbreaking superclub -- continues to meet world demand
for revolutionary events. A year which has seen GATECRASHER become a global
phenomenon will culminate in an unparalleled New Year's Eve celebration.
Clubbers and radio listeners alike can prepare to dance 'til they drop.
GATECRASHER NYE boasts one of the biggest, boldest and best line-ups
Northern Ireland has ever seen. And that's not all! Clubbers attending can
expect the most phenomenal light and laser shows, video imagery and state of
the art sound. Those listening on the radio will undoubtedly be overcome
with the unbelievable sounds and euphoric vibe.
Kicking off proceedings is RADIO 1 superstar and all round dance don the
right honourable JUDGE JULES. JULES' SET WILL BE BROADCAST LIVE BETWEEN 7pm and 8.30pm. The set will also go out live of Ireland's 2fm. A gatecrasher resident, The JUDGE promises to whip the ODYSSEY ARENA into a frenzy with a spine-tingling, seratonin-surging set.

HISTORY OF GATECRASHER
Gatecrasher offered an all-night event, with 'big name' DJs throughout the night, with Judge Jules a resident. This attracted people from all over the country with a music style that was originally Techno and House oriented. The door policy was notoriously strict, seemingly turning people away for no apparent reason. Instead of discouraging people to attend, this policy only made the event more popular: successfully getting admitted to the club only added to the sense of excitement. The door policy also ensured that only dedicated and enthusiastic clubbers gained access. This resulted in a clientele and atmosphere that was rare at that time in any club in the UK. The door policy and fashion at the end of the 1990s encouraged people to dress in a flamboyant style to ensure entry to the night. The club developed a cult following (Crasher Kids) who in turn developed their own style of fashion, identifiable by fluorescent clothes, dummies and spiky hair.
