Welcome to the first in a two-part lesson where you will learn how to play great sounding funky stickings funk drum beats. In this lesson you will apply the funky stickings pattern to twelve different 8th and 16th note bass drum patterns. "Funky Stickings" is a paradiddle based (RLRR-LRRL) sticking pattern used by Tower of Power's David Garibaldi and other drum legends to create incredibly funky drum grooves. This drum sticking pattern has also been referred to as the "King Kong Beat". Whatever you want to call it, it's a fun drum pattern to play; it works well in numerous musical settings and it sounds great!
