In this lesson I will teach you the basic half-time shuffle drum groove plus some great sounding variations. The half-time shuffle is often associated with Bernard Purdie, Jeff Porcaro and John Bonham. These renowned drummers played the half-time shuffle on time-less recordings by Steely Dan, Toto and Led Zeppelin. It can also be heard on numerous recordings in a variety of musical genres from hip-hop and pop to funk and jazz. In this drum tutorial, I will teach you how to play the half-time shuffle both with and without snare drum ghost notes, plus, demonstrate a number of commonly played bass drum variations.
