"Moanin'" was written by pianist Bobby Timmons, who was a member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. It was first recorded in 1958, alongside Blakey, Jymie Merritt on bass , Benny Golson on tenor sax , and Lee Morgan on trumpet.

I would also recommend listening to other versions by jazz artists as: Horace Silver, [Charles] Mingus, Ray Charles and Jon Hendricks, who added lyrics to the melodic line.

The Spanish guitar and the Electric guitar, can create two distinct timbres that can blend in a harmonious musical setting. Johnny is playing his Gibson ES 175 electric guitar. I am performing on a Flamenco Hermanos Conde Guitar.

In relation to my technique, I use finger style picking techniques for my performances. I believe fingers can allow musicians greater versatility in their playing. The fingers and the flamenco technique, give us more options on how to play melody, or accompaniment.

The Spanish guitar is also a very powerful stand alone instrument. I like to perform, both melody and accompaniment, in a manner, that if the guitar was to be heard isolated, from the other musicians, it would sound complete.
