The Yells debut EP was recorded with the help of producer Ted Comerford, doing basic tracks with the band at Strangeweather, with Marc Alan Goodman engineering, and completing production at Yells bassist Matt Basile’s Proper Pop project studio.

Veteran Mixer Mitch Easter delivers the rockers King of Love and Mustard, while Velez and Basile locked themselves away for 48 hours and came out with the decidedly indulgent, yet terrifically satisfying, The Mourning.

Kengla’s guitars swoop in with swift force on these tracks which somehow can’t keep AV’s voice from slicing through Matt and Jamie’s walls of sound which swing vicious guitar hooks at express train subway speeds which will have fans of trailblazers like Queens of The Stone Age, The Clash, Arctic Monkeys and Portishead craning tip-toed to discover that refreshingly—upon deeper listening—Miles, Stravinsky, Dylan and Nina Simone are all in there too.

Does that sound crazy to you? Because it certainly is. At the very least.

But ain’t that just like living in New York City? You’d be nuts to listen to anything else.
