Les trois musiciens de Shisei se sont rencontrés au sein du collectif Muzzix, notamment dans le Circum Grand Orchestra.
La musique de ce trio résolument contemporain tente d'allier la complexité et la richesse du vocabulaire rythmique développé par le collectif M'Base et ses évolutions européennes aux sonorités plus souples et à la liberté d'un Thomas Chapin ou Henry Threadgill. Tout le défi est de concilier la rigueur rythmique Colemanienne avec le son de la « new thing ». Le Shisei est une notion japonaise que l'on pourrait traduire par l'attitude juste... une posture qui permet une liberté totale d'action, l'esprit et le corps disponibles pour s'adapter à n'importe quelle situation.

The three musicians of Shisei met within the Muzzix collective, in the Circum Grand Orchestra more particularly.
This trio's music, firmly contemporary, intends to combine the complexity and richness of the rythmic vocabulary developped by the M'Base collective and its european evolutions with the more flowing sounds and freedom as of Thomas Chapin or Henry Threadgill. The challenge lies in reconciling the rythmic colemanian strictness with the « new thing » sound. « Shisei » is a japanese notion wich could be translated as « fair attitude »... a position that enables a complete freedom of action, body and mind being available to adapt any kind of situation.
