Country Wildwood Flower - The Country Guitars (Jerry Kennedy & Tom Tomlinson) - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 22, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Guitarists Jerry Kennedy and Tom Tomlinson, using the moniker Tom & Jerry, recorded four LPs for Mercury in the early 1960s, including two volumes of "Guitar's Greatest Hits."

A fifth album, "Welcome to Guitar Country," was issued on Mercury's budget label Wing somewhat later in the decade. This time Kennedy and Tomlinson were billed as The Country Guitars. The tracks may have been recorded at the same time as the Tom & Jerry LPs.

"Country Wildwood Flower" is a version of the folk song "Wildwood Flower" popularized by the Carter family via their 1928 RCA Victor recording.

Kennedy and Tomlinson had previously recorded the tune under the title "Golden Wildwood Flower" on the Tom & Jerry LP "Guitar's Greatest Hits, Vol. 1." The two versions are different.
