DESCRIPTION:
Working on this track was a beautiful experience for me. I quit my job a few months ago to focus on making music. And anyone that's done that knows you hit a point where the high of chasing your dream meets the sobering reality of everyday life. It put me in a hole, and I even suffered from "remixer's block." I had to dig deep and decide that this is what I wanted to do. This remix was my re-commitment to my dream. That's where the glitch-hook in the intro came from. It was my declaration. I'm a descendent of Patrick Henry, who's famous for the phrase, "Give me liberty or give me death!" I always wondered what my declaration would be. This remix was my chance to make an equally powerful statement like my forefather: "Give me life. Give me dreams. Give me symphonies." As for composition, I combined stylistic elements that I've used before. I love the idea of taking orchestral noise and marrying it with digital effects. I used classic breakbeats and scratched up samples. But harmonizing the vocals was my favorite part. I don't use any VSTs, I do all my glitches manually. It can take longer to do this, but I have more control over the composition of the piece as a whole.
