My dear friend Stephen Scott and I had been talking about doing some instrumental gigs together for a long time, after having a ball performing together with Judy Niemack in NYC several times. Stephen was on the road with Ron Carter's band, and happened to be in Berlin on the first night of my feature week in early July '09 at the beautiful A Trane. So when we figured that out, we immediately decided to jump on the occasion and have our first European performance together there. 'Footprints was the first tune of the second set. It was also my very first time to play with wonderful British bassist Phil Donkin. One of the greatest young drummers around: my friend Rainer Winch.
