No collection of this sort would be complete without a classi period Philly disc or two, and not suprisingly the city of brotherly love is the home of the Philadelphia Story. They started as the Valdons, cutting for the tiny Twin City Movement label, before providing unaccredited backing vocals for J Kelly and the Premiers' beautiful ' She calls me baby ' on Roadshow 1973. Under their new name they cut this delicate piece of sweet soul for the same concern, who leased it to Wand for release and national distribution. Despite a further 45 or H&L a couple of years later, Clifton Curtis Jr, Monroe Wright III, Maurice W Young and William H Clark sadly never made it to the top.
