JD Souther & Ida Jenshus - Someone To Love - City Winery, NYC - 10.23.16 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 24, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
JD Souther accompanied by Norwegian singer-songwriter Ida Jenshus on one of her original songs, apparently, as JD told us, quite popular in her native Norway. No shocker there - it's simply a great song, a very beautiful one at that.

Do I hear a little Emmylou Harris in both her songwriting and singing style? Or maybe it's a style all her own. In fact it is.

Ida joined JD for 6 shows on his recent tour and this was her first-ever trip to NYC. Don't be a stranger, Ida.

Someone To Love

I'm not myself
When I'm alone
I'm just someone

I might have known
I've always kept
Someone close
That's when I feel
Like me the most

Driving home I thought of you and I felt cold
Will you still be there when I need someone to hold

Could you be there for me
Would you do that for me
Will you be that someone I can hold

You and I
Both need our space
Life is fast
And hard to pace
But when I start
To feel alone
Can't you meet
Me back at home
Back home

There's something in me that isn't right
Something's missing when you stay out of sight

Could you be there for me
Would you do that for me
Could you come somewhere that I belong
Would you go there with me
When the night surrounds me
Would you be that someone I can hold

In the dark
The empty bed
Feels like rocks
Under my head
I can't sleep
I'm too tired
My strength is gone
My nerves are wired

As I lay here the streets seem far too still
Can this emptiness be something you can fill

Could you be there for me
Would you do that for me
Could you come somewhere that I belong
Would you go there with me
When the night surrounds me
Will you be that someone I can hold
