PRESS RELEASEJune 2010Moving Oos have returned! So says the title of this new album, and the comeback shows a band in new guise, both keeping their roots and reinventing themselves. The Return of Moving Oos is the band’s best album, and it should recruit new fans as well as keep the old ones.As the band headed into the studio for the first time without their choir ladies, one could easily expect a more masculine and one dimensional. Luckily, this is not the case, as the expeceted soon is replaced by the delightfully surprising. The opening track ”Revelations” sets a melodic standard that points to the band’s break through hit ”Romancer”, and the following ”Rapunzel” follows track before ending in a slow stoner jam. Moving Oos are keeping us on our toes, and the initial three leaf clover culiminates with ”Diamond Eyes”, perhaps their best song to date. Singer Frank Reppen performs better than ever, and the song mixes spacerock elements with tasteful melody and instrumentation in a way that might put the listener in ”Cadillac 2004” mode. The Return of Moving Oos is Per Borten’s sixth full length album, as leader of Moving Oos, New Violators and Cadillac, and the record puts itself firmly in the top half of the table. Borten as songwriter utilizes a wide range of influences, as the classic Southern rock sis naturally alongside a more ”soft valued” popular music. The result is rich on content, intense, innovative and, well… purely beautiful. For long periods, the American West coast seems comfortably close, as a laid back, floating atmosphere takes us a few steps away from the sweaty, frenetic gospel/soul rock the band has relied heavily upon. This we are also served, albeit in smaller and well proportioned doses. Towards the end we get another Moving Oos highlight with ”My Chaperone”, where a simple melodic line is perfected, drilled through the ear channels and onto the brain, through a 14 minute psychedelic magnum opus. The Oos are back, and they are still moving, in more ways than one.Svein Inge SætherMANAGEMENT & BOOKING:Tom Kenneth Altetom@lillebyaudio.noPhone: +47 91 62 58 13
