DESCRIPTION:
Sir John Franklin Expedition - All hands lost 1845-1859. The crew was slowly lead poisoned during their journey from England to the far north Arctic, by the lead solder used to seal non-perishable food items. The slow-burn lead poisoning caused mental impairment which resulted in both the HMS Terror and HMS Erebus "spitting up" onto the ice, as both their hulls were iron-reinforced and had a steam locomotive train retrofitted inside to drive, that provided the horse power necessary to beach a vessel of this size.

In their delirium, the crew decided to walk from King William/Beechy Island area down to the Hudson Bay trading post in Ontario. Suffice it to say, no one made it, and the local Inuit passed down stories of crazy white men eating each other.
