"This is not an act of treason" shouts The Lieutenants frontman Adrian Symcox on the opening track of his band's debut E.P. And he is right in this assertion. While there is no shortage of bands claiming The Clash, The Jam, or Elvis Costello as influences, The Lieutenants do not betray the legacy of Strummer, Weller, or Costello.

Having grown up between London and Los Angeles, Symcox delivers charged, intelligent anthems with an uncommon blend of sincerity and swagger. The lineup is rounded out by the dynamic rhythm section of drummer Jordan Bryant & bassist Tommy Branch (formerly of garage mainstays The Flash Express), as well as outstanding lead guitarist Phil Robles. The Lieutenants have built a solid following in and out of Los Angeles, via myspace, radio play on L.A.'s Indie 103.1 and Little Radio, and, gasp, actual word of mouth.

Symcox’s versatile lyrical content challenges society’s mores with a sense of wit and irony. This is all delivered over a raucous but melodic sound that tastefully melds elements of post-punk, garage rock, dance, dub, english folk and northern soul.

The band's live shows are as electric as their sound. Last year they performed the coveted month-long Residency at LA's renowned

Silverlake Lounge, as well as performing on Indie 103.1's stage at the Sunset Strip Music Festival. The band is currently developing songs for a debut album. A west-coast tour is in the works with national and European tours to follow.
