PUBLISHED:  Sep 06, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
In 2005 Gwyn Ashton drove to Scotland and recorded his album Prohibition with one of rock music's greatest and toughest rhythm sections and was voted 'Album of the Year' by the British "Guitar and Bass" magazine.

1n 1980 Ashton attended an Adelaide, Australia concert of one of his favourite guitarists, Rory Gallagher, that featured Ted McKenna on drums. Inspired by the sheer power of the performance his new catalogue of original songs were written with messages to his various drummers 'play these like Ted would' and he would use the albums Photofinish and Top Priority as templates.

25 years later Ashton was playing with the Rory Gallagher band members in Band Of Friends and met drummer McKenna at a party in London. They struck up a friendship and decided to record an album. McKenna suggested bassist Chris Glen for the bass role and this album was born.

The muscular bass and drums of Glen and McKenna, best known for their work with The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Ian Gillan, Michael Schenker Group, were joined by Don Airey who played piano and organ on two of the studio tracks who contributed the tracks between Deep Purple touring and recording.

This live show was filmed in Glasgow where Ashton and the band were opening the show for Georgia Satellites' Dan Baird, promoting Ashton's album 'Prohibition' on 10 June 2006 at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow.
