this song has a cool story.
so we were at the studio doing a photo shoot for our first album and website. Eric hands me this super old funky bass with flatwound strings. the bass was made in Russia maybe in the 40's. Yes, this is before Leo fender. But as a result the bass hardly played in tune. It had a short neck and the frets weren't quite in the right place. So as we were posing for the photos i started to play that riff. So Brian got excited and asked us to stop with the photos and suggested that we should record and create a theme based on that bass line. And that is the track you are listening here and is the actual track that made into the album!
BTW, I also feel that I have to mention, the bass was a hollow body with only one neck pick up. The notes that I chose were the only notes that played relatively in tune. So with the use of mu palm and a pick, I could get a very dark sound, kind of muddy and dirty that helped even more with disguising intonation issues. The cool thing is that the bass has an incredibly unique sound that I have not being able to re-create with any other instrument!
