Eduardo "Bijoux" Barbosa was born in Sao Paulo-Brazil where he studied music theory and electric bass with Prof. Nadir Dos Santos from 1982-1986. In Brazil he played with pop bands and Jazz Fusion oriented bands. In 1991, he moved to Caracas, Venezuela, where he worked with many well known artists. In addition to studying Latin music, Bijoux studied double bass with Carlos Verenzuela, principal double bass of Orquestra Symfonica de Venezuela from 1991 – 1995. In 1997, Bijoux moved to Denver. Since arriving in Denver, he has been very busy performing both on double bass and electric bass. Bijoux is one of the top studio musicians in Colorado, and can be heard on over 300 recordings. Bijoux has studied double bass in Colorado with Michael Fitzmaurice, assistant principal of Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra from 2002 to the present.
Eduardo "Bijoux" Barbosa has performed with a wide array of stars: Herbie Mann, Dave Grusin, Don Grusin, Bryan Lynch, Russell Ferrante, Chuck Loab, Gerald Albright and Lee Ritenour, to name a few. Currently, Bijoux performs with the Nelson Rangell Quartet, gogoLab, the Littleton Symphony Orchestra, and the worship band for City Presbyterian Church. He performs with just about every local jazz musician, as well as with many of the touring jazz soloists who make a stop to perform in Denver.
Eduardo "Bijoux" Barbosa is also the Jazz Bass instructor at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
