Henry Hadley's orchestral song "O Hermit! O Veery!" - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 12, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
I must admit that when I first heard the title of this song, I had no idea what it was about. As it turns out, "Hermit" and "Veery" are both varieties of thrushes, so this song is a paeon to the their song. Hadley's wife, soprano Inez Barbour, liked to end her programs with this wildly romantic song. It was transcribed, for this performance, from Hadley's manuscript in the New York Public Library.

Soprano, Carey Pearson

Conductor, Eric D. Anderson
