Drew Zingg plays some bebop guitar for Fuzzy Gray Logic - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 08, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
In 1991 Meryl Mathews and I saw Drew Zingg play with Donald Fagen at an auditorium in Southampton, Long Island. Totally surreal gig, but we were immediately blown away by his guitar playing. We quickly set out to write a song for him to play on. We tracked him down in NYC and he was agreeable to come out to Centerport, Long Island to record our little ditty at Modern Voices Recording Studio. This was a 24 track tape ordeal but we had no problem putting Drew on two tracks and just let him play. He gave a terrific performance on each take. Within a half hour we were done and totally happy about the session. Very little editing was done. In fact, we had more than enough great playing to choose from. That was hard part - what to use? I wish we had the foresight to just cut an instrumental track featuring all his riffs but we must have run out of studio time. That was over 20 years ago but his playing still sounds amazing. It was a good song to showcase his style.

Players :
John Tabacco : Lead vocal, Keys, Recording engineer, Mix
Meryl Mathews : Keyboards, Mix
