DESCRIPTION:
That's not technically the title of this tape, but I'm taking a creative liberty here.

This is Fussy. Who is Fussy? I know who's Fussy. I won't tell on Fussy. Fussy's my friend.

This is me deliberately beating around the bush because I'm not totally sure if the guys behind this funky project want me to out them for who they truly are. I think this is one of those bands that's a lot more fun if you analyze it strictly by the art, as opposed to the artists. Having that been said, I'm sure all you punk rock detectives can figure out the brains behind this project pretty easily.

Fussy's a "funk punk rock n' roll :p" group from Santa Rosa, California. Those are their words, not mine. Actually, that is somewhat accurate as to what Fussy is, though I likely would've referred to them as something along the lines of "hardcore Geza X". Er, at least I would if I had any confidence in my music interpreting skills, that is. Anyways, Fussy's weird. Even though their debut tape is only four-ish minutes long, I still walked away from it thinking "yeah, that was something". A raving review, I know. What I'm trying to convey here is that I got the gist of it, but wasn't able to quite put my finger on what made it so special. Was it the ample discord, or those warbling vocals? Maybe it was the scrappy song structures that I found so appealing, especially when the music continuously collapses on itself in the most grating manner possible. Or maybe I'm just biased because I think "Fussy" is a fucking great band name, I don't know. Regardless, I can still say with the utmost confidence that Fussy's REAL good, and is well-deserving of a full listen to truly appreciate all the sounds they throw your way. It's a delightful step away from an otherwise stagnant genre that doesn't feature many weirdo bands of this nature. I like to think of it as the poppier, funky counterpart of the Acrylics--er, whoops, did I just say that out loud? Forget I said anything.
