Dream of the Rarebit Fiend--Edison Military Band - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 18, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
The Edison Military Band plays "Dream of the Rarebit Fiend" on Edison cylinder 9585, released in July 1907. This piece took its name from Winsor McCay's 1904 comic strip, which in turn inspired Edwin S. Porter's 1906 movie. The song had been published in 1899 as "Perman's Brooklyn Cakewalk" but was retitled "Dream of the Rarebit Fiend," probably after the movie.
