DESCRIPTION:
Ty Segall gave the world its first look at his new band on Wednesday night in the form of a secret show at the Griffin in Los Feliz. Ty Segall and the Freedom band consists of familiar faces, particularly to a Ty Segall led band but the most distinct recruitment was Charles Moothart on drums along with The Cairo Gang and recent ex Mugger, Emmett Kelly on guitar, Ben Boye on keys/Wurlitzer and long time and frequent collaborator, Mikal Cronin on bass.

As far as I know, the only promotion mentioning the show was a flyer on The Griffin's Insta and text messages like the one we got from the The Birth Defects frontman and manager of the Griffin, Jason Finazzo who opened the show.

That didn't stop a line from forming well into the residential part of the street that the Griffin is on and creating MANY a disgruntled fan that didn't find their way inside like some of the people that arrived as early as 6pm.

Surprisingly, half the set list contained songs that are NOT on Ty Segall's forthcoming, self titled album due out on January 27th on Drag City Records. During what I can only explain as one of the best shows I've ever seen, Ty Segall mentioned that the extremely heavy prog rock songs played that night at the Griffin would be out towards the end of the year (2017). We seriously can't wait!
