In this interview done backstage at the Newport Jazz Festival, pianist Frank Kimbrough talks about his early musical education and development, including his first musical instrument, his introduction to jazz and his important teachers and mentors. Kimbrough was appearing at the festival with the Maria Schneider Orchestra and as a solo artist.
