DESCRIPTION:
In researching Hula History I've discovered that men originally created the Hula and it was forbidden for women to participate. Some sources say that it was a form of martial arts. A few of the ancient warrior steps are still used, but modified. Watching this video that I shot at the Royal Grove Hotel, I am reminded of a Karate Kata that I learned at the Uchi Ryu Dojo in Manchester NH back in 1978. The arm movements in this Hula are similar to Sanchin Kata.
