PUBLISHED:  Jan 24, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Before guitars other instruments churned out 'distorted' sound of rock and roll music. Initially it was the honking and screaming saxophone. Then, in the early '50's Little Walter put his harmonica close to the microphone.
If SUN Records broke ground for rockabilly market the Chess/Checker label did the same for rocking blues. The Chess studios housed artists like Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry and Little Walter defining the blues side of rock and roll.
Apart from his dozen or more hits Little Walter played the harmonica on many his peers sessions.
