Improvisation using Allen Gyrophonic Projector with Sustain Circuit - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 06, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
The 1958 Allen Rondo S-14 installation at Immanuel Lutheran Church (LCMS), Osman, IL, uses a gyrophonic projector (Allen's answer to a Leslie system) to dislocate sound from a single speaker. This enables the organist to use Doppler effects while playing. This, in combination with the sustain circuitry, can create an 1950s-style ethereal sound not available on current Allen models. Some would say that's a good thing, but it is what it is.
