The Tubes / Rick Anderson : "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman" - Bass Play Along - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 27, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
"The Completion Backward Principle" was a seminal record in my early music career. Many hours were spent in the bedroom, broom in hand, pretending to be Rick Anderson. Rick told me he did the same thing when he was in jail. What a joker.

I absolutely love this bass line. The mixed meter, weaving in and out of A minor to A major, the tri-tones at the beginning and end to coincide with the foot stomps, and the brilliantly cheesy elevator music synthesizer solo over a bossa in the middle . . . not to mention all the great backing vocals taking place over the campy storyline.

I played a low E at 0:50 which should have been E on the 3rd space of the staff - sorry. I also probably should have played the Bossa section on open strings and low frets rather than up in the 5-7 area - I think Rick plays it that way and my version sounds a little too thick due to it being up a ways on the neck. I was having a bit of an "off" day and I wasn't in the mood to worry about muting open strings . . . :(

Bass is a 1997 Fender Precision "California Special" with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders in neck and bridge position (autographed by Rick Anderson himself). Bass amp is a Mark Bass Combo II 1x12. Camera is a Canon EOS Rebel T5i, music is playing through a 2005 iMac 2105.
