Bernhard Sekles : Barkarole , #4 from 'Skizzen ' Op. 10 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 09, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
The German composer Bernard Sekles (1872-1934) was born in Frankfurt on Main, where he taught at the conservatory (becoming director in 1923), and established the first ever jazz class in 1928. Hindemith and Cyril Scott were two of his students at the conservatory. As a composer he wrote operas, orchestral and chamber music. This barcarolle, from 1902, has quite a heavy accompaniment, and one can imagine the gondolier with a full boatload!
