About SANKOFA:
Founded by Harry Belafonte in 2013, SANKOFA.org has been building a platform and entertainment enterprise where influential artists and grassroots leaders can work collaboratively to speak out against human rights abuse and injustice. Last October, SANKOFA.org produced “Many Rivers To Cross,” an historic two-day social justice, music and arts festival outside of Atlanta that attracted nearly 20,000 people and over 50 grassroots and policy organizations; and featured performances by artists and influencers like Elijah Blake as well as John Legend, Maxwell, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Public Enemy, Rosario Dawson, Jesse Williams, Danny Glover, Chris Tucker, Michael B. Jordan, Wanda Sykes, Macklemore, and many others, along with panel discussions​ with many leading activists and thought leaders like Angela Davis, Van Jones, and Sonia Sanchez. SANKOFA.org also served as a key partner with Blackout for Human Rights on the 2016 “Justice For Flint” benefit concert, and worked with Usher on his groundbreaking “Chains” music video and racial justice campaign.
