DESCRIPTION:
A tabla solo in an unusual 11 beat tala (rhythmic cycle) called Chartal Ki Sawari, featuring various compositional forms, including mukra, kaida, gat, paran and chakradhar, with recitation.

A huge thank you to master drummer Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, from whom I learned most of this material.

Sitarist Chris Hale is playing a lehara (looping melodic composition that outlines the rhythmic cycle) in Raga Jaunpuri.

This solo was part of a concert Chris and I gave at Musideum in Toronto on Sept 5, 2013.
