I've been working on some solo music for a while now. I try to write/create music that I would enjoy listening to. I would like people to know it's not always just me creating these tunes. I'm fortunate to be surrounded by some great musicians and ask for their help and opinions on a regular bases. Here are just some of the cats who make this possible. ( Jeremy Simmons, Trey Batts, Daniel Clarke, Todd Herrington, Rex Richardson, Sam Savage, DJ Williams, John Barnes, Tonto and Mark Ingraham) thanks too all of them for their time and talent. I hope to have the first record finished by fall 06 but I don't rush anything out the door so be patient and I promise a product worthy of your attention. I also make beats, tracks, records, whatever you want to call it for other artists (mostly in the genre of Hip-Hop, Soul, R&B) If you like some of the clips you hear let me know if your interested there is alot more where they came from so hit me up

Dusty Ray Simmons born October 3rd 1980 in Richmond, VA started playing drums at the age of 6. With no formal training and using only records and the guidance of his brother and father Dusty quickly became comfortable in his surroundings at the kit. A crash course in rock history would become the very foundation that he uses to keep the pocket and play for the song and not himself.
Funk, Soul, Jazz, Rock, Hip-hop, Pop, Break Beat, (Real) Country, ect …. are now genres that influence his playing on a regular basis. Dusty played in several bands throughout high school in St. Louis before returning home to pursue a serious career in music.
After the rise and fall of Gray-V (an eclectic blend of Rock & Roll meets Saturday Night Live) Dusty has made a name for himself as one of Richmond’s diverse drummers on the scene. He has played for such groups as Moossa, Oregon Hill Funk All-stars, Devils Workshop Big Band, Yo Mama’s Brass Band, Vertigo, Peach Crate, The Trip Daddy’s, Chez Roue Orchette, and the Richmond Symphany to name a few.
You can see Dusty perform with DJ Williams Projekt, The Big Payback (a tribute to James Brown founded by Dusty) Oregon Hill Funk All-Stars and others. Currently Dusty is recording a solo record featuring music and lyrics by Dusty Ray in collaboration with his brother Jeremy and multi instrumentalist Daniel Clarke, produced by Dusty Ray and Low Blow Music the album due out sometime in 08 is untitled as of yet. Dusty as more than a drummer spends countless hours a week as a producer, song writer, and beatsmith for his own records as well as others.
Dusty is an endorsee of Sonor Drums and Menil Cymbals and has shared the stage with Dave Mathews Band, John Legend, B.P.S, Russell Batiste and friends, Average White Band, Ike Willis, Robert Randolph, Leon Russell, Melvin Sparks, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Perpetual Groove, and many more.
