Brian Pelican – known alternately as Don Libideaux, Don Libido and within the Louisiana adult film industry as director/set designer/actor Sir Francis McNasty (winner of the 1993 Golden Load award for his role as Mexican-Dutch-Irish-Jewish Plumber No. 4 in the 1992 hit Le Bon Temps Bootay), Mr. Pelican’s career spans all genres of music and film. His breakthrough was as the stunt double for the lovable Lil Wizard in Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo, which opened the door for a plethora of non-credited roles in which Hollywood needed ethnically ambiguous extras. Disenchanted by Tinsel Town, Pelican moved to Louisiana in 1989 to try his skills in the then thriving New Orleans adult film scene. After several years of hits and a couple misses making video nasty, Brian met Tony Skratchere in 1998 at a bar mitzvah in Shreveport where Tony was deejaying. Though in 1998 Hip Hop was still brand new and nobody thought it was going to last, Tony thought Brian’s total lack of experience as a rapper might prove beneficial in a genre filled with mediocrity. Brian wrote his first rhyme, a song called “Fleece It Out” about his biggest musical influence, Hall & Oates, later that same year. With that the Slick Bastards were born. They have ruled your boombox ever since.

The birth of Libigula is a completely different story. Shortly after the tragedy of 9/11, Mr. Pelican found peace and meaning from chaos through a mash-up of teachings by L. Ron Hubbard and Joseph Smith. Brian took the passion, sense and sensuality of the Mormon faith and mixed it with the sci-fi antics and fervor of Scientology to discover the one true truth: Jesus is actually Xenu and Native Americans are actually thetans that make the true chosen people (Americans) feel guilty for genocidal acts masked as Manifest Destiny. Mr. Pelican then understood the only way to liberation was through the subjugation and oppression of humans that possess one too many Xs in their chromosomal makeup, that xenophobia is truly patriotic and fun and Ann Coulter is friggin’ hot. New Orleans native, philanthropist, feminist, ascetic, avant-garde pinko-commie tree hugger and Hip Hop artist, Caligula, learned of Mr. Pelican’s worldview and was dismayed. Caligula then made it his personal mission- when not volunteering time at a homeless shelter for cleft-lipped, cancer eaten orphans and teaching young women that abstinence before marriage is the only “safe sex”- to take Brian under his guidance and care. Libigula is the result of this still ongoing therapy. Pray that Caligula’s effort on Pelican is not a waste by buying their album.

Brian Pelican is one half of The Slick Bastards (the other half being DJ Tony Skratchere) and one half of Libigula (the other half being Caligula). His songs reflect struggle, debauchery, mischief, narcissism, sex, drugs, booze, love, hate, atonement and New Orleans. His debut solo album, Non Valide Pour Voyager, will be available in 2009.

Brian Pelican and is currently working on three projects: Brian Pelican's Non Valide Pour Voyager , The Slick Bastards' Crawfish Circuit album and the Libigula EP.
