I do no know the origins of this old song, but can tell you that it was recorded in the late 1920s by the well-known string band duo Richard Burnett and Leonard Rutherford. They were from south central Kentucky and stayed active as performers into the 1950s. Burnett would cut loose on the banjo. I'm playing this in the old-time key of A.
